Speaker: Swiss sports is in a very good period thanks to 3 sportsman: Roger Federer, Tom Luthi and for sur Stephane Lambiel. 3 World champions, 3 personality complitely diverse. Thanks another time Stephane Lambiel to be in this show today.
Since May 17 2005, day of your first World Champion title, it's in fact another world which has been built around you. In 12 month you have become a true star, what do you do to captivate so much the audience?
Stephane: I try to do nothing, I just try to go on with my schedulde that is training and competitions and I try to win, to be the best, that's true that's not always easy but I have an entourage who support me a lot. Now it's time off. You have to know to separate your training and your other things.
Speakrin: Precisely you have take the time to enjoy your birthday since the end of the season?
Stephane: Exactly, this past two weeks I could enjoy my title of Calgary and the entire season because it was very long and my birthday. I have the luck to have my birthday at the end of the season. It's practical)
Speakrin: The season finished with this world champion title and if we come back over the whole season, Europeans, Olympics, Worlds, it seems you have been getting better mentally.
Stephane: It's perhaps because my physical preparation was very well organize. When we feel good in our body, we feel stronger in our head and I have never had doubts, I knew I had the capacity to reach the top because I won in Moscou and so I really have given . I perhaps have gone in Turin with an injury but I gave everything, I knew a medal was reachable and it has been seen in the competition, it's a very strong moment a lot of skaters fell apart and his the one who broke the least that stays in the podium
Speakrin:If we come back in order over the competitions, in the European with Plushenko's victory, have you had the feeling that the olympic title was for him?
Stephane: That's sur that at the beginning of the season it has been said there will be a russian domination in 4 disciplines. I have been training during 15 years to win the gold medal and I didn't want to say to myself I go to Olympics for silver, so I have always hope that the gold was reachable and after I was very satisfied with silver.
Speakrin: What are your realtions with Plushenko? You have become a true competitor for him.
Stephane: We have a lot of respect. It's not the war like with Yagudin, it's a lot more healthy. During the competition we don't really speak, it's everyone in his way of warm up, and after the competition its different, we have a lot more of relations. Besides we have a tour with Plushenko and others american skaters and there we can enjoy each other more.
Speakrin: But is there any little conflicts sometimes?
Stephane:In any case not with me. I m very discreet, I don't really try to play a game. I have to be the best in the ice, ahed the judges, so there is no tension between the skaters, in any case not because of me.
Speakrin: The Olympics is the dream of everyone, this year it was really a bad luck that 10 days before you had a knee injury, do you have doubts in any moment to not be able to go?
Stephane:The waiting of the IRM results was very hard. And the results were mostly negativ so I cried a lot, like in the images od the podium. But it was most saddness' cries. I was in shock, because when we train for a so big moment wich happens only once in 4 years with a medal chance, it hurts to be hurt 10 days before.
Speakrin: And after, once the decision being made, what was the hardest to do, forget the hurt or the medias taking about it?
Stephane: I don't really have looked around me, the hardest was my nervosity. It was a lot of waiting and I think the day of the Long Program was the longest of my all life. Be close on the Olympic Village, you can just go outside to show your triple axel and your quad.. so it was a very long day and that was very hard to handle.
Speakrin: Is an Olympic medal very different?
Stephane: Yes I think so. And she has a different shape not like the ISU medals which are always the same.
Speaker:Are you a bit exibitionist? You seem sometime a bit shy but for do exibitions you have to be a bit exibitionist?
Stephane: Ice is my thing. I feel good when I have my skates in my feets. A part of me like to be seen, but I like to be discreet too, to have my life.
Speaker: You still can manage to have both?
Stephane: Yes. I have a professional life and a personel life and I try not to mix.
Speakrin: The last competition was in Calgary, we remember you as a fighter. You said it was harder than Turin, why?
Stephane: In Calgary there was not the same tension than in Turin. The hard was to defend my title I had never been in that position before but I was good with myself. I could do everything.
Speakrin: We saw the difference on the ice in the expressions
Stephane: Technically it was better, and in the feelings I could give everyyting, I could fly away.
Speakrin: After the title we have begun to speak about money, does it bothers you when we know that skating is not a very remunarate sport unlike tennis or golf?
Stephane: Yes I think that a world title does bring back has much has a 1/4 of tennis from a little turnament... But what I have to say is that we see what I earn this year but we don't see what I spent during 15 years, it's a big investissement not really in money but more on time, on my parents time, all the sacrifice which allows me to reach the top.
Speaker: In what do you have to work still?
Stephane: In everything. I have to improve technically, to find new choregraphies for short and long program. This year I have come with something a bit suprising, a fling zebra, i will have to do more..
Speakrin: An alien?
Stephane: Why not I don't know yet, but something good I hope
